In addition to some similar carries in this video, I also EDC a mini Victorinox rambler in the 5th pocket of my jeans, a lip balm (made by Hurraw!… great lip balm and its oval shaped so doesn’t feel chunky in the pocket). I also carry a bandana or mighty hanks for cleaning my phone, iPad/laptop and watch screens/glass. It’s come in handy for many things though like a neck scarf in winter and a sweat-rag in summer. You can use it as a make-shift bag/pouch and also for wiping bicycle seats when its rained etc. I generally dont use it for my nose, but it is there for emergencies, and I often use them for cleaning up my daughter at cafes etc. I have a number of them so keep them clean and regularly rotate them. It's funny that today only relatively advanced photo cameras have manual mode (iso, aperture, focus, shutter speed). In fact I always use manual mode when using such a camera.

As a Gen-Xer, this was a fun blast from the past! I remember the thrill of buying my super-small cassette Walk-Man with a special Walk-Man cover and belt clip back in 6th grade. Why doesn't any reviewer say how handy the SD tip of the classic nail file is on medium size Phillips screws?????? Or how the SD tip can open bottles of imported beer pretty good?

I’d recommend trying the Analogue Pocket. It has a nice screen and takes the old cartridges. A nice blend of modern and retro.

Maybe I missed it and its covered in the video, but why use a Seiko labelled dial? It seems like a legit well built DIY watch, but having the Seiko logo on it makes it a counterfeit doesnt it?

recently picked up a DMG gameboy, a device that predates me by 11 years, and it has been quite magical playing games with that primitive pea green screen. I had a GBA as a kid, so I it does feel familiar

So excited to see the Olympus OM-2 on here. I started doing the typewriter thing as well- in pursuit of the single-use instrument theme. Got an old Olivetti Lettera 32 and took it to a local motorcycle shop to get it chrome plated! 😂

As living similar generation, all of things is I missed, Especially workman. 😊

As someone who had all that same tech back in 84 and now today’s tech as well. I can honestly say it was better back then. There was just something that made you more connected to it.

You can still, unofficially, get Star Wars (no a new hope tagline was added after)... Look up Harmy's despecialised edition. The guy has been working on manually upgrading the quality on the originals from different sources but it is it the ORIGINALS. No extra George stuff.

One thing I'd say about the music, get some IEMs. Until I went to IEMs, I didn't truly comprehend the compromise I made for the convenience of wireless. And with how the industry is at the moment, high quality IEMs are getting really cheap. I have a pair of KBear KS2s, and they're absolutely fantastic. It's not exactly "retro", but the difference in quality is so tangible it's incredible. The feeling you get when you listen to a song on wireless earbuds is just flat, whereas through IEMs it feels like I'm in a studio, with them playing the instruments next to me. Considering people are willing to shill out £100s on wireless earbuds, it should be easy enough to spend £30 on some quality IEMs, and when you realise how much better the audio is, you genuinely won't want to go back. Also, I love my cassette player. It's a bit of a crappy one, and I intend to get a Walkman some time soon, but the main reason I love it, is I can listen to songs that my dad made with his band. They never took off, and the only record of their music is a collection of 7 cassettes, but without them, the image I have of my dad would have been completely skewed, and being able to enjoy his old music has brought me a lot closer to him.

Another bad review by Marcus..do not get the Ray-Bans 2. The AI is spotty and you CANNOT ask it to play music. You can only stream with the spotify app. Yes, STREAM only. Also, the Ray-Bans (if you get them with prescription are not sized right and gave me headaches. By the way, this was a common reported issue. I would wait for better glasses.

Super Ninetendo games: some of the new digital games/emulators just dont have the same accuracy as the analog controllers. For music, I enjoy digital subscriptions however I still use CDs in my car, I have complete control over what I'm listening to.

I still have the original GameBoy and the box it came in. Unknown for sure if it still works though. And we have a Super Nintendo. Nintendo Wii (not as "retro" as the others). I bought a Nintendo Switch a few years ago but when I play it I tend to just default to Tetris. lol

I use a vintage Nikon D700 digital camera for general photography.😂 It’s 12mp but has no video so it’s just a photography camera. There is almost an endless supply of new and used lenses that will fit this camera. I usually use it with a 50/1.4.

Your Rolex shouldn't be gaining/losing more than one minute a month (max) according to their 'superlative chronometer' certification (+/-2s per day). If you're gaining/losing 1-5 min per week it's definitely time for a service.

I was thinking about the walkman again this week after listening to the latest Cal Newport podcast. They were kind of the perfect mix of intentional and unintentional tech - you purposefully chose the albums you brought with you but because you were limited to only a few tapes in most instances you'd end up listening to the same thing again and again leading to a kind of deep thinking state as the music simultaneously drown out the world but became background noise in itself.

In my opinion one of the few things that have gotten better today than "yesterday" are flashlights (torches). Almost everything else has gotten worse. Most electronics now are more designed to spy on you and to create a revenue stream, rather than to provide a service.

The first time I went on a long holiday, I went to California from Ireland in 2000 - brought a cassette player and 6 cassettes.. pure bliss. Owning my music and movies is hugely important for me.

I remember getting a Walkman for my birthday when I was around 10-11. It was such a big deal!
